What Tesla said on October 21, 2026
During Tesla’s Q3 2026 earnings call, Tesla said it is trying to deliver Cybercabs to customers by the end of 2026 and expects the first customer-owned vehicles could join its Robotaxi fleet around Q2 2027.
Customer deliveries
Cybercab deliveries to customers are a Tesla target for the end of 2026.
Robotaxi participation
The first customer-owned vehicles joining the fleet are a separate Tesla target around Q2 2027.
Tesla also said most near-term Cybercabs are expected to remain in its own fleet.
Could a customer-owned Model Y join Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet?
Tesla has discussed the Model Y as a possible example of a customer-owned vehicle participating within approved Robotaxi operating areas. Final vehicle hardware, eligibility, insurance, geographic, compensation and fleet-management requirements have not been published. TREVLER is preparing tools and services for eligible private Owners if and when Tesla opens participation.
For Owners evaluating the opportunity, see Robotaxi fleet management, the Owner preparation guide, current TREVLER platform pricing, and the fixed-fee service-model comparison.
Tesla’s Q3 update separately says Cybercab rides began in Austin on September 3 and lists more than 125,000 units of installed annual Cybercab manufacturing capacity in Texas with a production status. Tesla notes that installed capacity is not the current production rate.
Cybercab delivery and network participation are different
Receiving a vehicle would not by itself authorize Robotaxi operation. Tesla controls eligible vehicles, approved geofences, network access, technical requirements and fleet rules. A delivered Cybercab or customer-owned Model Y would still need to meet the participation terms Tesla publishes.
Why Q2 2027 is a target—not an opening date
Treat Q2 2027 as a planning window. Tesla described an expected timeframe. It did not announce guaranteed access, a public enrollment date or a confirmed launch date for any Owner.
What Tesla still has not published
- Final eligible vehicle models and configurations
- General ordering, pricing and delivery terms
- Approved markets, geofences and fleet limits
- Insurance and commercial-use requirements
- Network integrations and technical requirements
- Owner compensation and revenue-sharing terms
What future Owners can prepare now
Owners can choose an intended market, outline financing and insurance questions, compare operating models, and identify who could handle charging, cleaning, checks, parking and routine service. Capital commitments should wait for current written requirements from Tesla or the applicable network.

How TREVLER is preparing
TREVLER is preparing Owner workflows, Trevler and Captain readiness, parking relationships and local service capacity so eligible fleets can move if and when Tesla or another applicable Robotaxi network enables private participation. TREVLER has no Tesla agreement and does not control vehicle eligibility, network access or timing.

Customer-owned Robotaxi questions
When will Tesla allow customer-owned vehicles on its Robotaxi network?
Tesla said on October 21, 2026 that it expects the first customer-owned vehicles could join its Robotaxi fleet around Q2 2027. This is a company target, not a guaranteed opening date. Eligible vehicles, markets, insurance, network terms, technical requirements, and Owner compensation have not been fully published.
Does a Cybercab customer delivery mean the vehicle can join the Robotaxi network?
No. Vehicle delivery and authorization to participate in Tesla’s Robotaxi network are separate milestones. Tesla controls vehicle eligibility, approved markets, technical requirements and network access.
Can customers place a general Cybercab order now?
Tesla accepts commercial interest, but an interest form is not a general ordering program, purchase agreement, delivery schedule or confirmation of Robotaxi network access.
